Dr Carrie Winstanley has taught in schools and higher education for more than twenty years. Currently Principal Lecturer at Roehampton University, London, with a particular responsibility for learning and teaching she works on undergraduate programmes and with Masters and Doctoral students. With higher degrees in psychology, philosophy and history of education, Carrie’s practical work is strongly grounded in theory (both conceptual and empirical). She has served on various advisory groups, acting as a consultant across the UK, sharing ideas on how best to support able children. She is particularly interested in pedagogy and the concept and practice of creating challenge for learners, particularly able learners with learning difficulties, disabilities and disadvantage. She continues to run holiday and weekend workshops with children in museums, galleries and science centres.
